Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do eco-flaps® hold up in sub-zero temperatures?

Eco-flaps® are manufactured from a very durable, high-impact nylon that has been tested to 200 degrees above and below 0. They are made to withstand extreme conditions without cracking.

2. Will they clog up with ice in the winter?

Eco-flaps® might ice up in some winter conditions if there is rain or snow and freezing temperatures. This will not affect the integrity of the flap nor cause breakage. Also, remember that the amount of time that this might occur through out the year is small relative to those times of the year when there are not such winter conditions (less than 21 days a year in most northern areas). The fuel savings are still a tremendous pay back through out the year.

3. Why do they cost more than regular, solid mud flaps?

Because of the ventilated design of the eco-flaps® – none of the traditional mud flap materials were strong enough to withstand the extreme conditions we put them through. The high grade nylon is a lot more expensive, but almost indestructible.

4. I ran the “quick fuel test” and didn’t see any fuel improvement – what happened?

There are many variables that could come into play that could affect the results in performing a quick fuel test - the wind direction and wind speed, idling, any change in the routes on the test.
Eco-flaps® are aerodynamic - if you took a sail boat out to trial it when there was hardly any wind, would you think it didn’t work?

5. What does the warranty cover?

The warranty covers cracks or breaks from material defects. It does not cover road hazards or backing over them.

6. Can I put flap weights on them?

Yes, but it will reduce the effectiveness of spray reduction and the fuel economy.

7. If I angle cut the flaps or cut them shorter, will this void the warranty?

No, the nylon material will hold up to being cut, but please follow the cutting instructions on the website to avoid any problems (click here).
